Not even close. Malone, Barkley, Ewing and Robinson all averaged at least 23+ points and 11+ boards a game in the '92 season. Ewing and Robinson were both much, much better centers and actually had a size advantage.

Look how Gasol dominated this game. If his brother doesn't get in foul trouble, they may have won. There is no way this NBA could produce a team that would overcome the '92 squads front court dominance, especially when the "92 team had better shooters and MJ in his prime and Scottie defending the perimeter.

People don't realize just how terrible shooting and defense has gotten in the modern NBA, it's sickening. Here's an interesting fact: Larry, Magic, Michael, and Stockton all finished with higher career FG percentages than Kobe, Durant, Paul, and LeBron currently have. At the same points in their careers, the difference was even greater, substantially so for MJ and Magic. Then there's the whole basketball in a time when players didn't flop and look for fouls first and actually had to earn a trip to the line thing.

The lack of fundamentals, shooting ability, and post play in the modern NBA is frightening. It is all a part of the MJ effect which would take 10 pages to properly explain.

Then again, if the dream team had Shaq instead of Laettner and Larry Johnson ( or zeke, or Dennis Rodman or Tim Hardaway or literally anyone) instead of bird I'd say it would be close to 50-50 against a Howard/wade/rose team. Bird (because of his back) and Laettner would never see the court against the 2012 team. You can't afford to waste spots on ceremonial picks when you're going against elite players of this era.
