The worst part for me as a gifted kid was that I just wanted to be a teacher. In my mind it was a way to just be average which is what I had always wanted.

Everyone insisted I shouldn't be "just" a teacher so I internalized it, didn't get a degree in education and got two degrees in fields I really don't want to work in. I want to be a teacher so badly some days but I feel like it would be a failure to admit I hate my current life and I wouldn't want to devote 2-4 more years on getting a degree when teaching jobs keep getting cut. I wish everyone else would have been as alright with me being average at something as I was.
