I'm guessing there are quite a few high end single barrel shotguns in that collection that are worth more than my car. Probably some flint locks too. Do you talk about your collection on the intrawebz or maintain secrecy? I have a little of everything, AR's , AK's and variants, pistols , etc.

Mostly I shoot them, love them, cherish them. Some of them I don't even like. In fact, some of them I hate. They were bought cheaply and are easily discarded in a pinch. Cast off a bridge in the dead of night to spend eternity at the bottom of a river with the catfish. The slide in one part, the barrel in another and so forth. Slowly dying a little more each day as they rust out and fade away. Poor bastards.

I have a 9 mil and a large shotgun in the house. The 9 mil for fun at the range and the shotgun for protection at home. If I am getting robbed in the middle of the night the sound of cocking a shotgun will most likely deter an intruder. If it does not, at least I know I am not going to miss in the dark.
