i can pretty much guarantee you that this is an utterly terrible movie. ill watch it on cable when its a choice between this and family guy reruns.

Also, lets be clear on something. Planet Terror was a Robert Rodriguez joint, not QT. While paired up with QT's Death proof in Grindhouse, please don't put the blame for the PT abortion on QT. I thought death proof was kinda god, actually, particularly that Kiwi stunt woman.

second off, there is a long history of japanese movies that fetishize the conjunction of machine and human, starting to my knowledge with Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989).

The Machine Girl has _nothing_ in common with Planet Terror stylistically, morally, or spiritually and, iirc, was already filmed and in post production by the time Planet Terror was in theaters.

I liked Battle Royale. If QT or someone equally talented remade it so it wasn't quite so hacky, I would adore it. All the elements for hof are there.

I've started a 'sober' phase of the endless cycle - which means I'll be bored, tilted and overall noose until I say "fuck it" and the other part of the cycle swings around.
