Fuck it, I'm crashing the party... lets start things off right, with one of my favorites from my cobhood..

Oklahoma.. and not the original movie version, which stirred me as a young cob.. but a version that is right in your aussie gook faces..

And the reason I start with this song, other than to shove it in your aussie gook faces, is that it served as inspiration to one of my favorite songs, of course the immortal Uncle Fucker..

So I can add a beaver face to the faces that have been shoved in this post. Suck it.

Ugh. I hate Oklahoma. The play, not the state. I probably hate the state also, but currently unaware of the fact.

But one must always respect a crasher. At least you'll give me a run, in ways Harley cannot (even ambitiously) hope for.

But Hugh Jackman is outrageously brilliant.

I'm gonna slide in a risky entry here, such is my arrogance (and love of Hugh Jackman). But I've been looking for like 20 min on YouTube for Hugh Jackman's rendition in The Boy From OZ and cannot believe the single entry is a terrible cam joke that's just...ugh.

So then I was gonna just wack in the Peter Allen original, but that was meh. So I'm bending the rules, and submitting one of the greatest (and one of the most expensive) TV ads ever made instead. I think patriotism is for fucking idiot faggots, but when Qantas plays their latest version as your flight drifts in over the harbour, I admit I always feel the slightest pang of the faggotry.

Unless we're talking about the ATO, I Still Call Australia Home.

ahhahh I'm unable to resist, this is a decent Peter Allen version. And I fucked the girl at 1:25 true story. Obv she's a lot hotter than a RAAF khakis allow...and I'm good mates with the guy on the left who was a national-level boxing instructor, and he'd feed me inside information in the leadup to the annual ADFA Fight Nights (I cornered the betting markets) and I'd always clean up. Never underestimate the blind idiocy of friends wagering on their mates at pathetically short odds. morans.

I see I let you get a little uppity in over-estimating Australia's contribution to musical theater by having Hugh's version of oklahoma. Please then, allow me to bring this discussion back to the culture that musical theater truly belongs to... the jews..

had to go with a zero song tho. Tradition was the only other options in my mind. But Rich man really shows off Zero's talents.

For young players, the different between a meistro and an also-ran. What the crab gook should have shoved in our faces instead. You have to open with a crowd-pleaser.

ah, but if you limit your self to just jackman, you're limiting yourself to just leading man numbers, and there's so much more in the genre. For example, Jackman's much too young and handsome to play FAGin...

that has no tyde-in to martin's uncle rape, tho

Ah okay. I don't know anything about any rape/s of Martin by his uncle, or any other relatives. And have very little interest in them. I know a thing or two about rapes (both coming and going), and from what I know, it's best to let sleeping dogs lie.

However, I was raped once by a fat girl. I swear to god this is a true story. Spiked drink, brilliant plan execution, etc. Fucking whore.

ugh, you've dragged me down into the gutter? I have to post a fucking definition of a SHOW TUNE? noose.

Show Tunes are the songs that have been featured in musical plays and films.

Broadway musicals generate a number of different songs, preludes, interludes, postludes, and theme songs.

Any musical song from a Broadway musical can be considered a show tune, specifically in reference to the memorable melody.

ANY MUSICAL SONG FROM A BROADWAY MUSICAL IS A SHOW TUNE.

I withdraw from this competition, as it has been despoiled by ignorance beyond the pale.

ugh, I swore I wouldn't lower myself but...

If you had the slightest clue about what you were yabbering about...ugh.

The clip I posted is like the main show tune of 7B47B. It's called "Bless Your Beautiful Hide". It's only the opening tune, and almost every song ties into the melody.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axZfOyddauo

But sure, why not scratch Bless Your Beautiful Hide...in a thread about show tunes. lol.

ugh, I swore I wouldn't degrade myself by being forced to spell 2+2 for Helen keller.

Because Bless Your Beautiful Hide is literally one of the most recognisable showtunes in history and I was unaware there were people alive who wouldn't instantly recognise it and be humming the lyrics along in spite of themselves.

And because the Barnyard Dance is the climax of the show, so perfectly camp and glorious! It's right up there with the epic crescendo of One Day More in Les Mis...

As ususal, you don't provide a sauce. Typical GOP style scooterness, pulling something random from some Estonian post on a latvian forum, babblefishing it, then posting it as fact. But that is niether here nor there, in the interests of drawing this discussion to a close and getting back to the showtunes, lets just go with that one shall we....

To begin we'll use your "definition" as a starting point

ANY MUSICAL SONG FROM A BROADWAY MUSICAL IS A SHOW TUNE.

Dictionary

showtune (plural showtunes)

noun
Definition:

song from musical: a song from a musical, especially one with a memorable melody that becomes independently popular

sounds plausible, if not a little ambiguous, so lets clarify it some more...

song [ sawng, song ] (plural songs)

noun
Definition:

set of words sung: a usually relatively short musical composition consisting of words set to music and the music itself

http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/jj92/L3G3NDK1LLA890/wwe/DXfunny.gif

of course you realized this before i had time to log back in and tried to save your zonked out, i can only assume you were high, rambling by covering your arse with some more zonked out rambling about the "melody is the showtune maaan" well no, it's not, as is evidential by the dictionary definitions above.

What part of this are you not getting? Perhaps it will assist you if you explain on what grounds you would disqualify the SHOW TUNE I submitted. Do you need it's name again?

Bless Your Beautiful Hide - from the hit show Seven Brides for Seven Brothers

I'm not understanding the retardation of your argument. You are annoyed that I only posted a portion of the show tune? You wanted the lyrics posted? Are you annoyed that you didn't recognise the show tune? What is your core argument here?

Do you even have one. Explain again why you have a problem with the show tune Bless Your Beautiful Hide - from the hit show Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. You do realise that's the show tune I posted, yes? You're acting like you're still unaware of the fact.

I'll help you out in the future, less assuming. Which only makes an ass out of you. This was so easily the best of what really is an underrated score in Man of La Mancha. It's sung by Peter O'Toole, in the rendition here which was part of the film adaptation of the under-performing play (I cannot find a Scott Bakula version).

Sophia Loren starred as Dulcinea in the movie, and she was obviously glorious. Except I hated her long after I probably should have been feeling very different emotions, because Dulcinea is literally a terrible, terrible fucking show tune and I couldn't (and can't) stand it. You'd probably like it.

Lyrics can be Googled, if you want to verify my claims. I hope I, Don Quixote from the Broadway show Man of La Mancha meets with your approval.

oh god, you posted Barn Dance, which while based around the same melody is not Bless Your Beautiful Hide, as is evidenced form the fucking sheet music of the show and is not a fucking showtune because it doesn't doesn't have any lyrics.

jesus christ.
