Old Delivery Truck
Good morning to you all, and I hope each of you had a blessed Easter weekend. I had a great time, and our sunrise service was excellent. That is why I was late posting a picture yesterday . . . I got up at 4:00 AM, got over there before 5:00, and then helped with making the breakfast burritos. We had 150 people show up at 7:00 by the river for the service. That is pretty good for a community of about 300 people. OK, not back on task . . . I love old trucks, so this week will be old truck week. We kick things off with the picture above. It was taken in 1912 in Washington DC, and it shows a delivery truck for the Woodward and Lothrop department store. I like the simple and elegant design of the truck.https://blogger.googleusercontent.co...s.blogspot.com http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/..._pyVM2hf8/0/di http://feedads.g.doubleclick.net/~a/..._pyVM2hf8/1/di http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/blogs...~4/V1q4CSM27qw More... |

Oak Tree, Sweden
My daughter Kina is playing with her dog Noppe on a beautiful spring day. The big oak tree shades the midday sun in the Natural Reserve of Sandemar, a place outside Stockholm next to the Baltic sea. (This photo and caption were submitted to the 2010 National Geographic Photography Contest.)

Inspecting Raffaello
In the Space Station Processing Facility at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the STS-135 crew inspects the Raffaello multi-purpose logistics module with the carrier's technician. From left are STS-135 pilot Doug Hurley, Sandy Magnus, Commander Chris Ferguson (upper level), a carrier technician and Rex Walheim. The four-member crew is at Kennedy participating in the Crew Equipment Interface Test, which gives them an opportunity for hands-on training with tools they'll use in space and familiarization of the payload they'll deliver to the International Space Station. Shuttle Atlantis is being prepared for the STS-135 mission, which will deliver the Raffaello module packed with supplies and spare parts to the station. Atlantis is targeted to launch June 28, and will be the last shuttle flight for the Space Shuttle Program. For more information visit, http://www.nasa.gov/shuttle. Image Credit: NASA/Kim Shiflett

Taking a Deeper Look into Fortune's 'Best Companies to Work For' List
Filed under: Professional Profiles, Careers
In January, Fortune released its annual "Best Companies to Work For" list. CNNMoney.com revisits this list by highlighting three of those ranking companies to pinpoint why included employers have "happy campers" or satisfied employees. CNNMoney profiles online footwear store Zappos, film production company DreamWorks Animation and nonprofit organization Teach for America, which ranks 82nd. Below, see why these companies stand out among the rest: Loyalty: Even with the recession, Zappos and DreamWorks made the decision to retain their staff rather than give in to layoffs. One of Zappos' mottos is "cut everything except people." Perks: Almost all the companies that made Fortune's list were generous when it came to the taking care of their employees. At Zappos, employees get free lunches and snacks, while DreamWorkers' staff get free dry cleaning and medical care. Flexibility: At Teach for America, staff is allowed to work from home irrespective of where they live. Here is the complete Fortune Top-10 list: 1. SAS 2. Boston Consulting Group 3. Wegmans Food Markets 4. Google 5. NetApp 6. Zappos 7. Camden Property Trust 8. Nugget Market 9. Recreational Equipment 10. DreamWorks Animation When you're looking for a job, it pays to do some research and get a sense of the work environment. In other words, if you find yourself interviewing at a particular company, just a little homework can enable you to interview them too. Beyond the health benefits a company offers, check to see whether loyalty, flexibility and perks are a part of the company culture. It can make all the difference. Ollie
Location: Jogyakarta, Indonesia
http://www.dailykitten.com/wp-conten...9-IMG_6872.jpg We adopted Ollie and her brother after seven years waiting for a child. My husband and I had a quiet and lonely life before, but this has now changed into a life full of laughs and smiles. Ollie is a playful and curious little kitten. She is not afraid of water and likes to roll and play around on wet floors. She is energetic and like to play jump-and-catch. In the morning, she wake us up by nuzzling our hand or cheek. Unlike her brother, (S)mok(e)y, she doesn’t eat much, and we have to give her daily vitamins. I’m just curious where she gets all the energy for being so active! More... |

Gabrielle Union Rocks Her Natural Hair
Filed under: Celeb Transformations, Natural Hair, Celebrity Hairstyles
Gabrielle Union is an actress admired for both her talent and beauty. She's rocked a number of hairstyles throughout her career and worn several different weaves to add length and volume to her natural hair. But now she's going bold, and proudly showing off a weave-less look. Her latest twitter pics show her hair sans relaxer or weave. And though still bone-straight, Union's shoulder length tresses are all her own. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments http://newsletter.adsonar.com/nwrss/...=5&url=NA&uid= More... |
