Jordan Jayne Wins First Live Tournament Entered, HPT Soaring Eagle
Live poker is eaaaaaaasyyy.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Or, loldonkaments.
That could have been what Jordan Jayne was thinking on Sunday when, at the tender age of 20, he won the Heartland Poker Tour’s (HPT) Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort stop in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, the first live tournament he had ever entered.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS For his victory over 385 opponents, the Lisle, Illinois resident won $165,462 and an HPT championship jacket. Up until April 15th, Jayne had played poker professionally online.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS But when the United States Department of Justice unsealed indictments against the principals of PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker on the day that has since become known as online poker’s “Black Friday,” his career came to an end.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Because the poker rooms involved in the indictments stopped serving U.S. customers, Jayne had nowhere left where he felt it would be feasible to make a living.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS “Black Friday has completely changed my life,” he said, “I used to play eight to ten hours per day, five or six days each week.” Jayne had built his online bankroll to about $70,000 before he was forced to start thinking about getting a conventional job or going to college. It was a good thing that the HPT made that stop in Mt. Pleasant, as Jayne’s options for anything even approaching a “major” live tournament are limited, since he is only 20-years old.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS The minimum age to gamble in a casino in Illinois is 21, as it is in neighboring states Wisconsin, Indiana, and Iowa.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Michigan is the only viable option for someone like Jayne, and it’s still a five-hour drive from Lisle to Mt. Pleasant.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Jayne is not yet old enough to play in the World Series of Poker (WSOP), which kicks off at the end of the month. HPT executive producer Greg Lang was pleased that young players like Jayne came out for the event, but he was sympathetic to their plight.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Commenting on the fallout from Black Friday, Lang said, “We’re happy to see online players discover HPT for the first time, but ultimately, we all want to see the laws change for poker players.” Jayne defeated Max Weinberg heads-up, besting the 21-year old on the final hand with A-9 over A-7.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS While Weinberg, also primarily an online poker player, just became old enough to partake in a celebratory drink, Jayne had to stick with something of the non-alcoholic variety. Contrast the two of them with third place finisher, Stan Miller.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Decked out in a pocketed t-shirt and suspenders, the 68-year old looked every part a Luddite.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS “I don’t play online.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS I don’t have a computer.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS I hate computers,” he said.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Miller is a great-grandfather already and has been married to his wife for 46 years.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS And it sounds like it, too.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Commenting on his plans to buy her a new car with his $49,639 in prize money, Miller said, “She’s been bugging me for one for weeks.” Three WSOP Main Event champions – Greg Raymer, Tom McEvoy, and Jerry Yang – played in the HPT Soaring Eagle Main Event, but none lasted to the top 39 to make the money. The final table is schedule to air on television in two parts during the weeks of June 30th to July 6th and July 7th to July 13th.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Episodes are broadcast by various local stations, cable networks, and satellite provides throughout the United States.SUCKINGHOBBITDICKS Complete television listings can be found on the Heartland Poker Tour website. Final Table Results 1. Jordan Jayne – $165,462 2. Max Weinberg – $82,732 3. Stan Miller – $49,639 4. Brad Albrinck – $38,608 5. Cody Nguyen – $33,093 6. James Casement – $27,577 More... |

Full Tilt’s Latest Release About U.S. Payouts Didn’t Help Matters
http://cdn.wickedchopspoker.com/wp-c...let-money1.jpg Everyone is still waiting to get their money off of Full Tilt Poker.
For those who missed it, Full Tilt Poker dropped U.S. players an update on Sunday regarding when they could expect to cash-out their funds. Sort of. In a 2+2 thread, long-time customer service repSUCKINGHOBBITDICKSFTPDoug issued the following statement from the company: “Since April 15th and the days immediately following, Full Tilt Poker faced numerous challenges and hurdles to ensuring the smooth operation of its international business and the orderly return of US player funds. FTP has worked tirelessly to address these issues and has made significant progress on both fronts. So basically, we’re trying, we’re committed, but no soup for you yet, have patience. The release caused frustration and outrage on 2+2 and Twitter among poker players. Tilt is in a tough position. Tony G had speculated that the company was cash-poor and needed to raise some money, and that theory was expanded on QuadJacks Radio last week, as they leaked rumors that Tilt was trying to raise around $200M for about half the company. We’ll have more thoughts on this story to share later, but for those with money stuck on Full Tilt, it could be awhile before you can start withdrawing your money. Dig in. Related Posts

Does the Gym = Puberty Part II?
From Black Girls Run!: Reader Question: I am 35 years old and I am a semi-beginner runner. I have been running for about one year now. I have noticed that I have been sweating a lot lately. So much so that my head band, shirt, bra etc. are soaked. I am ok with the sweating but my face is not taking it well. I seem to be breaking out now, something I have never dealt with before. Is this something you have experienced? Can you pose the question to your readers for some suggestions? I have taken face wipes to the gym to clean right after. I have been washing with acne wash. Nothing seems to be working. Thanks in advance for your help! Share Tweet Let me first just say that I feel your pain. I thought that when I left college, I left all of my acne problems behind. But, as soon as I started working out daily back in 2006, I developed acne on my cheeks and forehead, and wait for it - dreaded back acne. And this wasn't just a few pimples and blackheads here and there. My face looked like the before pictures on the Proactiv commercials! Toni experience something similar a few years ago when we first started BGR! Toni, who has had perfectly clear skin her entire life, I'm not bitter developed acne in her t-zone, chest, and back. She even blogged about it, and you can check out her advice here. After I started to breakout, it took about six months for the acne to go away. In the meantime, there were a few things that helped my skin clear up. 1. New Skincare Regime - After seeing my skin, my mom went out and bought me Clinique's 3 Step skincare products, which includes the liquid face soap, Clarifying lotion, and Moisturizing Lotion. At the time, I was using Olay's deep cleansing face wash. For me, switching products was important, because I needed to use products that addressed my changing skin care needs which include were overactive sweat glands due to working out.
