Sherri Shepherd Lied About Wedding Dress Size, Working Out to Fit In
Filed under: Celebrity Style
Earlier this year, comedienne and co-host on 'The View' Sherri Shepherd announced that she had become engaged to writer Lamar Sally. Her engagement came months after an appearance on "Faceoff,", an ABC Nightline special featuring a panel of black men, including actor Hill Harper, in which she discussed her prior marriage and divorce, as well as the hardships she faced as a black woman seeking a husband. Shepherd has also talked openly about her struggles with her weight on 'The View,' so perhaps it comes as no surprise that she lied about her waist size while shopping for her wedding dress. Share Tweet Recently, when picking out her Rivini wedding dress, Shepherd says she gave the designer "my fantasy size," and that she has now started the South Beach Diet so she can fit into it. "I still have this fantasy that I'm going to be a size two. I'm hesitant to give everybody my real size," Shepherd told PopEater while flashing her 3-carat princess-cut diamond-and-platinum engagement ring earlier this year. In 2009, she was motivated to lose weight because of her son. "My mom passed away at 41 from diabetic complications - I want to be here for my son," Shepherd told Chris Cuomo on Good Morning America.' After hard work exercising and dieting, Shepherd debuted her bikini body on 'The View.' Since then, though, she has gained back the weight she lost and more. "Elisabeth [Hasselbeck] told me to tell the truth, but I lied," said Shepherd. "So I'm going to the gym and starting Zumba tomorrow." She's also practicing a choreographed dance to a Chris Brown song for the reception, and awaiting co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck's robot dancing solo. "Elisabeth has a robot solo. She does a very sexy robot, so I cannot wait to get that going!" Shepherd's six-year-old son Jeffrey will be walking his mom down the aisle to help calm her nerves. "Yes, I'm very nervous. It's the second time - I want to do it right!" http://xml.channel.aol.com/xmlpublis...uts=1307566871 http://www.aolcdn.com/ke/media_galle...ry_wrapper.swf Celebrity Weight Loss In 2005, singer Faith Evans lost 60 pounds the old-fashioned way: diet and exercise! She told People Magazine, "I never saw myself doing push-ups, but now I'll do 50 by the side of the stage. It feels good to know I can do it." Her confidence looks good on her! Celebrity Weight Loss Forest had to gain 70 pounds for his role as Idi Amin in "The Last King of Scotland," but when cameras stopped rolling and it was time to take the weight back off, he shocked everyone by going far past his original size. In fact, he was downright skinny! Apparently he owes it all to becoming a vegan. "I did meet with a nutritionist … and he talked to me about the way I was eating," Forest told Rachael Ray. "I shifted the way I was eating, the way I was living. I started working out. I just wanted to be able to live a really good life." Celebrity Weight Loss When someone suddenly goes from stocky to super skinny, rumors are sure to arise. Such was the case for singer Freddie Jackson, who seemed to be suspiciously svelte out of the blue. "Why can't a Black man just lose weight without having to die of AIDS or having a kidney problem?" he asked in respond to accusations of sickness. According to him, he simply got tired of being large and went on a diet! Celebrity Weight Loss Janet's weight has always been up and down. The problem is, it's always to an extreme – when it's up, she's huge, and when it's down, it's REALLY down. However, today the singer and actress seems to have finally reached a happy size – she no longer has a six-pack, but she's fit and seems to be really balancing diet and exercise. Celebrity Weight Loss The singer and Weight Watchers spokeswoman went from a size 16 to a size 6, stating that it was her son that prompted her to hit the gym. "I realized [that] when I was pregnant, I was like, 'Man, I was wearing the same clothes I was wearing before I was pregnant.' That was kind of like a wake up call and I wanted to set a good example for my son," she told Ellen DeGeneres. Though Hudson is keeping the pounds off, she has publicly stated numerous times that she has no desire to be super skinny. Celebrity Weight Loss Right after Jill Scott lost 30 pounds, Tyler Perry asked her to put it back on for a movie role! Still, the singer loved reaping the benefits of diet and exercise so much that she kept at it after she finished filming, and recently showed up to the premiere of "Why Did I Get Married Too?" looking great. Celebrity Weight Loss According to Juanita Bynum, a little bit of self-actualization will get you a long way. The singer realized that she would never get back to her original weight without the proper plan, so she turned to diet, exercise and self-motivation to drop 30 pounds the all-natural way. However, she's not done there – she still plans to lose a few more! Celebrity Weight Loss We cheered comedienne Kim Coles on when she was on her way to losing almost 30 pounds on "Celebrity Fit Club," and it was hard to find that she'd gained it all back over the years that followed the show. Now, Coles is on a new regime that has kept the weight down and is keeping her trim to this day. Sometimes you just need to find a plan that sticks! Celebrity Weight Loss Though she hasn't become an official spokesperson for the brand (yet), former Floetry member Marsha Ambrosius attributes her 60-pound weight loss to Weight Watchers. Marsha has really been looking her best since leaving the duo, shedding pounds, picking up a sexy hairstyle, and promoting her new album "Late Nights & Early Mornings". Celebrity Weight Loss Formerly the proudest plus-size girl in Hollywood, even actress and comedienne Mo'Nique has debuted a new her. However, it was her doctor and her husband, Sidney Hicks – not her – that motivated her to lose some weight. "I was very comfortable at 262 pounds," she told Oprah. "I'm in the bathroom mirror one day admiring 262. And Sid says to me when he comes out of the shower, 'Mama, how much do you weigh?' I said, '262.' And he said to me in the most gentle, loving way, 'I want you for a lifetime. I started working out right then." Love, plus a diagnosis of high blood pressure, is making Mo'Nique really change for the better! Celebrity Weight Loss Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments More... |

Silas Candi says: I found little baby abandoned Silas at my work place. I could not believe that someone could toss out the most perfect little kitten in a parking lot! He was so tiny, just fluff and bones, and I thought he was going to be a wild little kitten. But once I got him home, he hopped on my shoulder and purred and purred! It was pretty much instant love with this little guy. He is still my sweetest kitty (out of seven)! Two of Silas's "siblings" are Skye and Jack Jack. You'll meet more of his family soon. ;-) Courtesy of: Candi Barry http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/TheDa...~4/da1W868ERJc More... |

Indicted Payment Processor Denied Bail
A magistrate judge in New York has denied bail to one of the 11 men indicted by the U.S. Department of Justice on Black Friday. Judge James Cott refused bail to 53-year-old Ira Rubin, one of the alleged payment processors that assisted PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker in “tricking†banks by disguising payments as transactions with phony internet merchants.
Cott said there were “unlimited reasons” why he was not convinced Rubin could be granted bail, the foremost being the concern that Rubin is a flight risk. Prosecutor Devil Brown said that Rubin had lived in Central America for years to avoid a telemarketing fraud charge and was preparing to flee to Thailand before his arrest. “I think I have no choice but to detain the defendant,” Cott said at Wednesday’s hearing. Rubin had asked that he be granted $300,000 bond and be allowed to live with his parents in Florida. Rubin was arrested in 2006 for telemarketing fraud after his company, Global Marketing Group, assisted at least nine Canadian telemarketing firms that sold non-existent credit cards to U.S. consumers. Rubin failed to appear for a hearing to show cause why he shouldn’t be held in contempt of court for violating a temporary restraining order. On January 30, 2008, a judge issued a warrant for Ira N. Rubin’s arrest. He had been on the run since. Devlin-Brown said that when the charges in the online poker case were announced on April 15, Rubin chartered a plane to Guatemala from Costa Rica that same day, and then intended to go to Thailand. Rubin was arrested in Guatemala and taken to the United States later that month. The prosecutor also claimed Rubin told a fellow inmate in jail that he had wanted to obtain a fake passport in Guatemala. Rubin’s lawyer said the trip to Guatemala was previously planned. For his involvement in the illegal online gambling activities, Rubin was charged with nine counts, including conspiracy to violate the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA); three counts of violation of the UIGEA, three counts of operation of an illegal gambling business, conspiracy to commit bank and wire fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering conspiracy. Rubin could face as long as 30 years in prison if convicted. Rubin’s lawyer, Stuart Meissner, claims that the evidence against his client is questionable and added that Rubin wanted to stay in the U.S. to face the charges. “This entire case is a little bit of overkill,” Meissner told reporters after Rubin’s bail hearing Wednesday. “This is the U.S. war on gambling as opposed to the U.S. war on terrorism. I don’t think this is a good use of taxpayer resources.” Devlin-Brown said Wednesday that Rubin helped recruit people to serve as payment processors and to set up fake websites for golf stores and electronic companies. Rubin himself “processed hundreds of millions of dollars” in payments, Devlin-Brown said. Rubin’s criminal record dates back “to the 1970s,” according to prosecutors, and includes at least 24 different crimes. Devlin-Brown said Rubin has outstanding warrants and criminal cases in Nevada, Massachusetts, Missouri, Florida, New York and Virginia. Stay tuned to Poker News Daily as more on this story develops.
