So here are pics of the hobo enclave pre-408 destruction. The one hobo (there are three so far living there) I have talked to is pretty nice, he's just got zero teeth and less than zero self esteem. I felt pretty bad seeing his situation and knowing he has little hope for pulling himself totally out and getting back on his feet SO I taught him a trick I have found very useful- how to refill bic lighters. Well technically I can refill the adjustable ones too and a variety of others but basically this guy had a half dozen empty bic lighters strewn about and (unbelievably) a new can of butane he'd had sitting around so I asked him why he didn't refill the things and he looked at me like I was from the moon. I probably am and we moon folk don't throw away perfectly good bic lighters because they run out of butane, we refill those fuckers 2-3 times and then when the flint goes throw them away. He actually literally called me "a magician, bro" with eyes as big as dinner plates when he saw me do it. Then he was off to find a few push pins (they are incredibly rare when you need them) happy as a clam.

he might not be so happy in a week or so but that's life.

anyway I don't know what order the pics are in but basically the toilet/bucket is on one end the "home" on the other, the hobos jump the fence with the bucket and just throw it back and forth over the fence, feces and all... there are 4 mattresses (you can only see one I think) and the owner of the property hired his brother in law to do the job originally (hobo removal) so this guy installs some cylone fencing AROUND the trees which basically provided an actual closed space offering a much more private and homey feel for the hobos rather than ward them away. I was there yesterday and I swear on everything there is a fucking welcome mat now on the bucket end (inside the fence.) You can't spell incompetent better than the job the guys brother in law did with the hobo problem, I mean how....I don't get it, I must be too stupid to understand how it works because basically it looks like it's providing better privacy and structural support to me but what do I know...
