FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) - A substitute teacher at Northrop High School is accused of trying to seduce at least six students over the phone and on Facebook. Fort Wayne police and Fort Wayne Community Schools are conducting an investigation.
School officials can't comment about that investigation, but they're encouraing parents to make sure they know who's communicating with their children.
According to police documents, a 17-year-old girl said her Ceramics class substitute used Facebook to get her phone number. She said he told her he wanted to cuddle with her, kiss the back of her neck, and share a future.
The girl told police that after awhile, she "started to feel a little creepy" and stopped responding to his messages.
FWCS spokeswoman Krista Stockman said while the accusations are concerning, the district has it under control.
"I think parents should be reassured that when we find out information, we do take action," said Stockman. "We are not a district that hides our employees if they're doing something wrong."
While the investigation continues, school leaders encourage parents to talk to their kids.
"Let your children know who it is appropriate to give your number to and who it is appropriate to be friends with on Facebook and who it's not," Stockman said.
The Northrop H.S. substitute hasn't been charged or arrested. He's not working at the school until FWCS and police complete their investigations.
