It was originally more of an Asian thing and I guess still is, but they added 75 million new users in December for example. The entire basis of the app is to create these faggy dance things like the "KiKi Challenge" etc. Older people tend to have no idea what it is, but the effects of the app spread through Facebook without people realizing exactly where it comes from - take the "cheese slap" challenge thing for example that is every other video of someone throwing a slice at their pets, babies, parents etc.
