I understand why you are jumping on the Team Gare bandwagon, Tine. As a neutral observer, I honestly would too out of pure empathy for the night walker. It's your duty as a human with a heart.

Mike I know that on this forum with a bunch of nerds, all things physical should be yours so you can have a place at the table, but it's just not the case.
Lol Mike, I weigh 220 and can still jump a few feet off the ground, to give you an idea.
this is a screen cap from the exact documentary series i watched.
Yeah JJ is srs business. The governor's imprinted vassal. He will enforce until he dies with honour knowing he impressed his patron more often than not. Dying with a full heart; is there any better way to go?

the story of the cute white girl with dreads who is 3 years into a 7 year sentence for shoplifting a container of suntan oil was shocking. but i get shocked a lot. what forced me to learn from her example was her losing half her teeth already (no tooth brushes allowed) oh and she has TB now and her face looks like it was carved out of rotten mustard.
There was some bullshit involved with that story; I can't remember the details though. I remember hearing the story represented that way and although I'm not likely to steal incidentals in the near future; the fact is that I'm a spacey imbecile who has walked out of stores with products not paid for, or eaten food I haven't paid for yet etc. I'm always back to pay of course, but this story made me disturbed until I read what was supposed to be what actually happened and it made a lot more sense. People don't actually go to prison for the things they claim, might have been the blushing gist of it; if I remember correctly.

I'm drawing a blank but I could look it up - maybe later, but the above might have been something like "people don't always go to the prison for the crime they're charged for & convicted for".
I remember thinking she was kinda being rude or at least deserving of a good, hard backhand for her stupidity to try and represent things that stupidly. She was asking for it basically. She probably got it. They have TVs in prison, yeah? One would assume a big-time documentary in the UK getting a lot of play in Thailand would want to watched by the inmates who are either in the background, in the scene/s, or even just to watch their fellow inmate impress or fail to.
Start shit-talking the heritage of those who are in prison because they're entrapped with demented things like patriotism, national pride, honour, family honour, and all the bullshit that is going to make them squeal in pain watching you. And that's not what you want to do with confused people who imagine pain in their minds.
They'll blame their insane pain on you because you will have caused it, in their imagination. And the guards...not that they're ever really in your corner but they could be frustratingly _not_ in your corner until the encouragement is compelling when it is continued for so long, someone has to get the hint.
I remember thinking something like this but it's so many clouds of smoke ago, who can remember these things. I remember 100% not being worried about innocent mistakes anymore.
The Thai courts are horrifying in some ways but in some ways they're very honest. If they want you to go to prison you will go to prison. If you are poor facing power you will go to prison. They don't get too emotional about selling the insulting illusion of justice. The courts in every country are a means to powerful ends, and in Thailand if they want you to go, you're going to go - they tend not to insult everyone with the frantic manufacturing of illisons of Liberty Fraternity Equality. You can laugh but I know which one is more stupid.
"guilt" and "jury-selecting" and "the validity of your alibi or your defensive arguments" - this shit isn't really what they're motivated to sell. Everyone in a Western nation believes they have all these hilariously progressive and advanced institutions. That's because they've been led to FEEL that way.

oh she went to jail because she had overstayed her visa, was a junkie iirc, and couldnt even afford to pay for the suntan lotion.
i suspect there was a minor dustup at the store as well, eg the store owner probably confronted her and she, drunk and wasted, probably chav'd out.
whatever, im sure youre right, that there is more to it than that, but i doubt the above scenario is actually that far from the reality.
watching "locked up abroad" and reading books like these
has been more than enough to make me behave myself when i am in third world countries.
when you realise how corrupt everything is then you will think twice about doing stupid things that you would do in an instant in the west. i am probably over cautious now if anything, wont ever rent a bike or jetski for the reasons scooter mentioned.
also even though i still drink as much as i would in the west i never black out. its strange really as i get black out drunk fairly often but in asia it just doesnt happen, like my brain wont allow me to do it and get in trouble. either that or the humidity.
but yeah if you havent read either of those two books they are both good reads, i prefer marching powder but i enjoyed both of them. the sort of books that put you in a good mood thinking "thank fuck its not me in there".
mike you should read them am sure they will cheer you up. life could be much worse ape at least you arent looking at spending the rest of your life in an indonesian prison so at least you got that going for you.
I've always felt in more danger in London and Vegas than in Bangkok. I feel almost zero danger in Manila. I just eviscerate those filthy Toddlers. Their emotional buttons are so ludicrous you can make them cry if you want to, scream in pain if you want to, cower in fear from you if you want to, sleep with you if you want to; about the only thing you cannot do is get them to give you a moment's peace.
The needy is out of control. By god they will scream and there is nothing you can do about their soliciting.

Declare bankruptcy? I don't get it.

I think my chances of getting in the military are slim. I could scrounge up cash to get me around if need be, and wanted to seek your opinion on moving, at least for a while, to thailand.
You don't run away from your problems, and definitely not to Bangkok. Bangkok isn't a safe haven of freedom for the harassed. Your problems will follow you here. You need to get on top of them in order to rediscover your sense of Self.

It's a bit rash but all in all, my life has been crumbling here, and the economic scene in the US is designed to swallow up people like me. I have no criminal background and marketable skills, but right now no car drivers license or employment and soon no place to live=all but disaster.
It has always been my experience that those who claim to be out of options have exhausted only their preferred options. You need a bed, a sink, a razor, an alarm clock and a willingness to work. You could find all that for a substantial period of time just for the money you'd burn on a ticket to Bangkok, which is really quite expensive unless you're going to live a long way from the city centre.

If I could get myself to bangkok let's say, would you help me find a place to stay and some kind of income? I would literally arrive with the clothes on my back, but I am a loyal friend and make a great employee.
No because I'd be perusing the Internet which I am vaguely aware the US has access to?
There is no income in Bangkok; I don't think you understand what Bangkok is about? I mean, if you spoke fluent Thai you could probably get a job easy. Actually sigh, there is a job you could get easy but you won't be rolling in dough and you probably won't even be in Bangkok but rather Chiang Mai or upcountry. Google "English teachers no experience Thailand" - there are a lot of schools that will use you for your pronunciation - i.e. you won't need to speak Thai. But research it fully, I've heard widely disparate reports.
I don't like loyalty. Loyalty is a religious poison. Think about it. If you were loyal to me, what is that effectively saying beyond an outrageous insult. Why would I want you to take my side in a dispute where I am in the wrong? I would be outraged at such a deceptive support for my incorrect position when you have a responsibility as a human to inform me of the reasons why I'm mistaken (if indeed such a thing could even happen).
I have no jobs because I don't do anything. I have no commerce here. I chase cute girls who aren't remotely impressed with me. I ramble. I chill out. I have fun without hurting anybody. I'm really a great deal more boring and non-connected than I suspect you've led yourself to believe. I shun anything that resembles a "scene". I wasted too much of my life with those miserable victims of Cool Apartheid.

I don't know what this means. If uncomfortable doesn't bother you, get back on your feet where you are and then reassess ambitious plans to travel to the developing world.

I take everything seriously. I am not entirely convinced you are doing the same. I see no logic in the plan. It reeks of impulse.
