Tine I am attempting to reclaim my hard drive from a Dell HPA and having some difficulties, will you please help me out?
My HDD is a Seagate ST3160812A5 160g reporting 149g when fully wiped via Dban autonuke or Hdparm security erase unit.
I have had no luck with Hdparm in setting real max sectors, I consistently get an I/O error despite the drive being unfrozen with master password set. I am now trying to work with Hdat2 and still having no luck.
What's odd is Hdat2 is reporting my bios to be 8.4gigs in size, that's impossible. My Device info on Hdat2 reads like so
Source-ATA LBA28 cyl 16383 head 16 sectors 63 total 268435455 =137.44gig (I presume this is because my main partition is a little smaller than normal, I've been messing around with my partitions for various reasons)
Source LBA48 cyl ----- head ----- sectors ----- total 312500000 = 160.00gig
Source CHS cyl 16383 head 16 sectors 63 total 16434495 = 8.46gig
Source INT13H/Bios cyl 1023 head 255 sectors 63 total 16434495 = 8.41gig
EXT INT13H cyl *16383 head *16 sectors *63 total 312500000 = 160gig

I would really like to reclaim my hard drive to 160g is this possible? I believe if anyone can do it, you can.
LOL SPEEDFREAKS. I read this and thought at first he was asking scooter fro computer advice and thought it must be the absolute pinnacle of skatz insanity....
Sure he did, it's not really that much info. He probably glanced at it and knew exactly what needs to be done and what tools to do it and just doesn't want to answer, which is fine. I know better than anyone the only person I can depend on is me, that's how I learn. How anyone learns if you think about it...
It seems like the cloud of ammonia surrounding you may have degaussed the magnetic platter, Mike.
Without bath salts, no recovery is possible.
Me making a video for you would be very much like you making a bodybuilding training video for me- you wouldn't know the first thing to do in the gym and it's doubtful you'd ever send me anything knowing full well you are totally out of your comfort zone as bodybuilding has been my life (to varying degrees) since I was 14. You think I don't notice how in depth you analyze and critique literally every single show you watch on television? I notice, and I know my limitations and thus far nothing I could have sent you would have gotten anything but the following in response- "crap" "barely even tried" "lazy" "wants something for nothing, as usual" "fake" "forced" "what the fuck am I even watching??!" " rank amateur" and the list goes on.
I told you I needed help, it's your decision not to.
You honestly believe Scooter is incompetent behind a keyboard? c'mon hosey...
ROFL. You think Scooter would be able to pick apart some absurdly complicated question about a specific HD ? Really Mikey... Thats why it is funny.. Scooter has admitted to not knowing shit about comptuers, but he apparently likes to read through any type of log file and attach himself to any possible debug warning/error he might see. Thats about it.... Just because people are smart doesn't mean they can do everything..
