OCONEE, Georgia (KRON) — A Georgia man who says his dog drove him to the store is facing both DUI and animal cruelty charges.
Police arrested 60-year old Wesley Mark Terrell after witnesses called to report a dog trapped inside a hot car. When officers arrived they say the temperature was 99 degrees outside and 123 degrees inside the vehicle.
Officers say the car also reeked from a can of gasoline that was sitting inside.
When they found Terrell, he reportedly told officers the dog had driven him to the supermarket so he could buy some corn. Officers say Terrell seemed very drunk.
He was arrested and charged with both DUI and cruelty to an animal. Animal Control is now caring for the dog.
