It's high time I updated yall on Google's Amazing. There's been a lot of changes in the lineup, but good and exciting things are happening as we march ever closer to Microsoft's overdue death and the dawn of a new, download-application-less age - yes, the Chrome OS is near, and it cannot arrive soon enough.
Until then, here are the top 10 best Chrome Extensions:
1. Blake is gonna find this hard to believe, but Awesome Screenshot have been outdone. I know, it's ridiculous. But Lightshot has taken top billing in the screen capture / edit world. Blissful, haunting perfection. Almost - it has literally only one tiny flaw, you can't capture long pages with it like you can with Awesome Screenshot, but in every other quantifiable measure, this extension is sheer perfection. One-click upload to actual shareable link (where AS falls flat on their otherwise-genius face). This is a sexy, sexy extension.
2. Awesome Screenshot - cause it's still amazing. And when you have a 18 page webpage to screenshot, you don't want to be fucking around with anything else. But their advertised one-click upload to shareable link is an egregious insult and if they weren't so sexy, I would totally disable (if not quite uninstall) them. I'm not even being huffy.
3. LastPass - brilliant auto-password extension, they also own Xmarks (bookmarks syncing) which is very, very hot.
4. Window Resizer - you might have to have OCD to adore the genius of this extension. But it's amazing.
5. Minimalist for Gmail is probably the slickest extension yet.
6. And Minimalist for Google Calendar is just as good.
7. Simple Gmail Checker - multiple lengths ahead of their nearest rivals. Don't even give this one a second thought. Simple Gmail Checker owns.
8. Sexy Undo Close Tab lives up to it's name; a light and sexy extension that comes in hecka handy on occasion.
9. Get My IP gets a nod for sheer hassle-free, always functioning, simplistic consistency.
10. And rounding out the top ten is App Launcher, mostly cause the future is all about Apps, and Extensions are all being modified for the impending Chrome OS online App world.
The Apps aren't amazing just yet, but there's still some pretty fucking cool ones. Probably too lazy to do a list, but in no particular order, all these Apps are god in their respective fields:
Write Space
Hulu
Read Later Fast (by the same guys who do Quick Note, they work together exceptionally well)
