nah i wasn't being serious, but i do like the move for a couple reasons.
first jimmy butler is a great second or third option (if simmons ever develops a jump shot).
covington is a hugely overrated defender. his first team all nba defense is an absolute joke. he's good, but not better than butler. i'm actually glad we got rid of that contract.
the depth of losing saric hurts but it's worth it for butler. he was having a horrible year except for the last two games, though he always starts slowly.
the sixers somehow didn't give up a 1st in the deal which is amazing. they also kept fultz
they will still have cap space to sign a top free agent in the off-season if they want to.
i don't think they're immediately better than the celtics or the raptors (who i think is coming out of the east) but they're competitive now.
butler is not a max player and paying him near $40 million a year 5 years from now hurts a little
