Given the flood of news coming down the pipeline to us regarding the Full Tilt Poker shutdown by Alderney, we’ll keep this 2011 WSOP update brief.

The big leads are that three bracelets were awarded on Tuesday…the guy who should’ve been POY last year–Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi–has finally awoken and is in contention for a bracelet…and the guy who could be this year’s POY–Ben Lambeer– finds himself positioned for his second bracelet of ’11.

:: Event #43 ($1,500 NLH) – Brazil’sAndre Akkari went into heads-up play at about a 3-to-1 chip disadvantage to Nachman Berlin, but pulled it out to bank a bracelet and$675,117.

:: Event #44 ($2,500 Razz!) - Razz!, the card game sweeping the nation, has it’s 2011 WSOP winner.Stephen Su went into heads-up play with 1,655,000 chips toRep Porter‘s 1,080,000. But like Akkari, Porter came from behind to win his second bracelet (first was in 2008) and$210,615.

:: Event #45 ($1,000 NLH) – Ken Griffin (above) captured his first bracelet, defeating a field of 2,890 and final table that included Antonio Esfandiari (7th – $58,288). For the win, the 34 year-old Griffin banked$455,356. Griffin is an ex-Marine, having served six years, including a post stint in Iraq. So dude is a badass. Get full payouts here.

:: Event #46 ($10,000 NLH Six-Handed) – The field is down to 22-mostly-Internet-phenoms. Mike Sowers is the big stack with 1,468,000. He’s closely followed by Chris Moorman with 1,458,000. Bertrand ‘ElkY’ Grospellier is third with1,409,000. Also remaining is current WSOP POY point leader Ben Lambeer with 501,000. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #47 ($2,500 Omaha/7CS 8oB) – The field is down to 21 with plenty of big names in contention. Leading the way is Michael “The Grinder” Mizrachi with 407,000. He’s followed by Abe Mosseri with 303,000. Other notables include Chris Bell (211,500), Barry Greenstein (149,000), and Scotty Nguyen (134,500). Lakers Owner Jerry Buss busted out in 25th to cash for $6,214, or about .00001% of his net worth. Get full chip counts here.

:: Event #48 ($1,500 NLH) – The starting field of 2,713 played down to 370. First will earn$650,223. Get chip counts here.

:: Event #49 ($2,500 2-7 Lowball Limit) – The day’s final event (freaking 7 events yesterday…) brought in 309 players with 120 surviving. First will earn $189,818. Jimmy Fricke ended play as big stack with 69,700. He’s followed by Eli Elezra with 57,100. For all of youSigi Stockinger fans out there,Sigi Stockinger finished with 43,800.
