Phil Hellmuth Does Not Win 12th Bracelet Again; Brian Rast Capture $50k
 Third time was not a charm on flush draws or bracelet attempts for Phil Hellmuth.
Ouch.
Phil Hellmuth finished second for the third time at the 2011 WSOP, falling just short again of his 12th bracelet.
This time, Hellmuth lost to PokerVT pro Brian Rast, who overcame a 5-to-1 chip deficit to become the first person at this year’s WSOP to win two bracelets.
Hellmuth was in control most of the final table, but ultimately did not hit his flush draw on three different all-in attempts against Rast.
For the win, Rast banks$1,720,328. Hellmuth earns his biggest single payday in his tournament poker career for second with$1,063,034. He also received probably his first ever standing ovation from a crowd after the defeat.
Hellmuth finished second in two previous events at this year’s WSOP:Event #16 ($10,000 2-7 NL) and Event #33 ($10,000 7CS 8oB). Even so, Hellmuth moves into first place for the 2011 WSOP Player of the Year race.
