On Tuesday at 9:39am ET, a monumental hand was dealt on
PokerStars, the industry’s largest online poker site. In fact, it was #
60 billion. In the end,
Pogo650 came away with the win and banked over $100,000 for being at the right place at the right time.
Lightning actually struck twice for Pogo650, who was involved in a separate milestone hand on the road to #60 billion. Needless to say, the poker gods were shining brightly upon him. The winner of the 60 billionth hand gleefully told the PokerStars Blog, “I’m possibly the biggest luckbox alive over the last week or so. Two losing sessions ended in milestone hands.”
Isa II, a $5/$10 Limit Hold’em table, housed the 60 billionth hand. There, a PokerStars host arrived and text found on the PokerStars Blog explained what happened next: “As HostBob told the table, the six players at the table were all guaranteed $500 and all of their prizes would be increased based on the number of VIP Player Points [VPPs] they’d picked up at the table in the past 50 hands. The winner of the hand would win at least $60,000.â€
In the end, over $200,000 was distributed to the six-man table.
Five players eventually made it to the river of the 2-K-3-6-9 board and Pogo650 made his Q-3 offsuit count. A pair of threes was enough to take down a pot that ended up being worth $147. Plus, $60,000 in bonus cash was awarded to its winner. All told, Pogo650 walked with $102,000 and a bundle of memories.
MeisterHahn showed A-10 at showdown and collected the smallest payout at the table of $11,000. The rest of the six-max table –

Blue Baboon, each raked in about $21,000 for their involvement in the 60 billionth hand. Don’t forget, the number of VPPs determined each person’s payout, save the winner, and every player was guaranteed a base prize of $500.
Posters on
PocketFives.com were amazed that Pogo650 had managed to be part of not one, but two milestone hands, including the 60 billionth. One member of the longstanding online poker community marveled, “Unbelievable that they had hit a milestone hand earlier too. Guy who won main hand won $3,335 on the earlier milestone hand, now that’s just sick!â€
Another member of PocketFives.com bewailed, “Wow, I’ve been 20-tabling the penny tables trying to hit one of those hands and this asshole hits two including the main one? FML.â€
Traffic on PokerStars has been through the roof as players tried to be dealt into the 60 billionth hand. According to
PokerScout.com, which keeps tabs on online poker room activity, PokerStars saw back-to-back days of at least 65,000 real money ring game players on Sunday and Monday, as players were rewarded every millionth hand in the run-up to 60 billion. The 60,000-player threshold had been crossed just once in the previous two months.
