About Sean:

Sean Thomas was born in Pennsylvania and studied Illustration at Rhode Island School of Design and Delaware College of Art and Design.

His work is inspired by modern feats of engineering. ‘I look at architecture and the modern industrialized landscape with interest and wonder,’ he says. In his work, he aims to represent those objects as man-made “fingerprints” integrated into the natural environment. To evoke a sense of decay in his paintings, he uses all traditional materials: oil, watercolor, and pencil.

Upon completing his degree, Thomas was selected for the European Honors Program. He lived in Rome for nine months to study Italian language and artistic treasures first hand. His work is now regularly exhibited at the Copley Society of Art in Boston.

Big, beautiful NGC 5584 is more that 50,000 light-years across and lies 72 million light-years away toward the constellation Virgo. The winding spiral arms of this gorgeous island universe are loaded with luminous young star clusters and dark dust lanes. Still, for earthbound astronomers NGC 5584 is not just another pretty face-on spiral galaxy. Home to some 250 Cepheid variable stars and a recent Type Ia supernova explosion, key objects for astronomical distance determinations, NGC 5548 is one of 8 galaxies used in a new study that includes additional Hubble Space Telescope observations to improve the measurement of Hubble's Constant - the expansion rate of the Universe. The results of the study lend weight to the theory that dark energy really is responsible for accelerating the expansion of the Universe, restricting models that try to explain the observed acceleration without the mysterious dark energy. In this sharp Hubble image of NGC 5584, many of the small reddish smudges are distant background galaxies.

I love to snuggle, chit chat, run really fast down hallways, sniff everything in sight, play with my friends at Earth Pups and discover new things (i.e. how to jump on the couch--I'm a pro!)

This is Modena. We call her Mo for short. She was very young here and is now almost three. She was named after a Ferrari. She can be very clumsy at times, but is very easy going. She will lay down wherever you put her, loves to play with anything that is not a toy. Especially straws and ice cubes. You cannot have a drink on the table either or she will have her whole paw in your drink. She loves to cuddle and loves to play with our other cat, Miata.
