the fear of getting caught there without a visa is more that enough to put me off staying without one. i dont know how you managed i would proably be to worried to leave the hotel.
i heard its next to impossibe for a non thai to buy property or open a business over there. i have heard tales of people buying in their girls name and getting rolled.

this. like all of it.
i was working from like 11pm to 8am every day, so i wasnt really in a position to be out exploring during hours when there was exploring to be done usually.
you need to sign off 51% of your business to a thai national, you cant even get a business license without something like 80k US in a thai bank account, and you cant even get a thai bank account without all sorts of retarded thai papers. you get the idea.
I suspect you were there for work but I remember something about cheap suits? Or awesome handcrafted worldclass suits- at Thai prices?
It would be pretty awesome if you could quickly list the best and worst parts of the trip, most memorable etc.
Also why do you suppose the majority head over for kinky sex and/or cheap goods but never to stay for long? Is it dirty or what?
awesome handcrafted worldclass suits in thailand were only like, 65% of what id pay for them in downtown manhattan, and honestly all their suits are made for strict business or diplomatic circles so getting them to appreciate ones sense of fashion aesthetics is a totally wasted effort.
that said i got some lovely high end pieces made have come in very handy for business meetings, and a slew of passable casual suits, most of which make me look very much like a up and coming soviet minigarch, which has a place and time. it worked better when i had the beard and cropped hair and looked vaguely coptic tho.
so the bottom line on the bespoken clothing theme is what ive been hearing for over a decade, that youre better off getting suits made in england or manhattan or milan, and going straight to thailand for slacks & shirts. which i intend to do again.
you keep on going on about the fact that the only thai girls that will give you the time of day are peasants and that the rest of them wont give you the time of day because you dont speak thai.
I'm being a little histrionic about it. Also, there are some cute girls that speak English. I'm a bit of a fucking dork though. I'm blown some unbelievable spots. The sort that are hard to laugh about, but one tries...

so why havent you made any effort to learn the language ?
Ethics.

you have spent what 4,5,6 years or more living there so surely it would make things easier if you could speak some thai. at the very least it would give you a better chance with all the hot thai girls who keep on passing you off to their peasant friends.
Certainly. And I'm actually quite good at languages. But ethics. It's not in their best interest for me to facilitate their exploitation. They need to learn English. Anyone who learns Thai is actually hurting Thailand.
I'm not quite game enough to post that on ThaiVisa but I'm gonna at some point because it's true. Probably get 100 pages of tilt but fuck those fags. They don't even know how stupid they sound to Thais. Also I hate that karaoke shit. The only exceptions I'll make are "khun na rak" (you're cute) cause they like that and "som nom na" (hahah suck shit). I know quite a bit more obviously but I refuse to indulge even when it would be easier, especially with numbers.
When they see farang talking in Thai it sends the entirely wrong message for their best interests. These languages of exploitation need to be wiped off the globe. It's ridiculous that you can point it out to people and they still don't get it how the government is their worst enemy.
I guess that's how exploitation works. Moronic vassals all believe they own their exploitation. Every creep in the world has their little slaves fighting those who would free them. It's genius. But horrifying. Americans are the biggest suckers for this moronic insanity. Slaves fighting their own interests, thinking their master's enemy is their enemy.
Look at this fucking moron. They don't get it even when you spell it out for them. Fucking.
What's the point. He wants a Russian state-funded news agency to report balanced news.

if i was living in any non english speaking country for a long period of time i would definately be making an effort to learn the language so i dont understand why you dont bother.
Start of 2011 I actually had something of a ethical dilemma cause there was this girl named Meen who was just way too fucking cool / hot / arrogant to ever really bother learning English so I was like "fuck ethics". I was gonna ride off into the sunset with her but I signed up to a Thai language course, got to my first class late, missed a few writing a dumb story and then DELL shook their head. Abuse of their services. Denied. And there went 2011.

Yeah they can be real pricks when they don't like you for whatever reason they have. They'll never tell you the reason, if you press them they'll be confused. They like you fine. You get confused. They were so genuine. Hmm. Maybe you imagined it. Then it starts again and you're like "fuck this, hahah you ARE fucking with me aren't you" and sometimes you'll see the hint of a smirk or other times they'll just be so confused. They like you fine. They're genuinely trying to help. round and round that ride can go, you'll want to get off early before you're invested.
I agree its in thai peoples best interest to learn english but i dont see how that means its not in your best interest to learn thai.
Surely being bilingual could never be a bad thing. Although english is obv the global language i think there is a great deal of satisfaction to be taken from speaking to someone in their native language.
Also i dont ever recall you posting a pic of meen i would like to see one if you can as you do mention her often so i have high expectations. I miss thailand, i need to get on the road again soon. Its canada in 2012 maybe me and chaps can smoke weed on the internet together.

People do not learn languages unless some drastic life-changing Need to learn another language presents itself, like Meen.
Or it can be an overwhelming realisation that no one speaks your language of exploitation outside your country. So money is flooding in and the people with the money are speaking English, the Necessity to communicate starts building. Every time you can communicate with them in the wrong language, you undermine that Necessity.

The world only needs one language. Thais should learn English not because they'll ever be capable of being witty or comedians or wry or dry or poetic or whatever, in English. But because it's the start of the process to get to the point where their children or more likely their grandchildren might learn English as their native language.
Culture and language are tools used for exploitation. As far as I can tell, Thai culture and the Thai language are vastly superior to Western Christian culture and the English language (which is so fucking creepy, you have no idea; the ambiguity, the endless potential for double entendres, the obscure synonyms, the ease at which you can be a creep in English is horrifying). This is not about superiority or inferiority. This is cold, naked best interests. They need to do away with the Thai language. Put it in a museum. Board it up.
In the Philippines, they all get taught English in schools. And their exploiting parents, church and communities all prefer to speak in creepy Tagalog. There's no fucking function for Tagalog except it's what they prefer because those they trust speak it. That's why they should never speak it.

I don't have a picture of Meen. It's very hard to explain to someone that you're crazy about them but you can't see them. This is something that tends to confuse people. She's adorable though. She dragged me down out of my treehouse to show me the world wasn't limited to misery. I had forgotten that.

Bro, I'm learning Dutch right now so that I can better enjoy the local television coverage of about seven Flandrian bike races held each March. That fucking rosetta stone makes it fun and easy, thanks to the immersive learning environment.
