We had an aging Siamese, who lost her best friend, Murphy, and was sad.
My wife had met another Cat Lover online, and through her, met a breeder. As a rule, we rescue “Used Cats” so rarely bought a “New” one,but my wife thought if the new cat looked something like the older cat, perhaps the meeting would go better, and the mourning cat Sam would have a new friend.
So my wife arranged to meet the breeder in the next state at a cat show. She originally wanted a coloring closer to that of Sweet Old Sam, but the choice was taken away from her when Zac saw her, was reaching through the mesh of the Kitty Cage, and demanded to be released. He lept into her arms, and that was the end of it. When she went out to the car to get the carrier (and checkbook) Zac was howling and screaming. You know the Siamese, and their voices!
He settled right in. This picture was taken only a few hours after he arrived home. Here he is, gloating about getting his own way, posing In State.
What a delightful little cat he has been, always the first to greet visitors, friendly and trusting and so affectionate.
His favourite trick is to intercept someone trying to climb the stairs, and lay in front of them, halting them till he gets a pet. He then goes up two stairs and repeats it, all the way up, collecting tolls.
He is the best friend and Step Brother to
Ignatius The Great, who was the New Years Eve Kitten.
They wrestle and cuddle and play a lot, and both are the better for it. He comforted Sweet Old Sam till her death. A genuine love, he is.
