DISGRACED former AFL player manager Ricky Nixon has been charged with serious offences after allegedly holding a knife to the throat of his fiancee.
Nixon, 49, was arrested at 3am yesterday near his home in Bay Street, Port Melbourne, and taken to The Alfred hospital to be treated for what police said were minor injuries.
He was discharged after several hours, and was charged with intentionally causing serious injury, false imprisonment, assault with a weapon, escaping custody and resisting arrest.
The Age has been told Nixon threatened his fiancee, Tegan Gould, with a knife. Ms Gould was not injured. Police refused to confirm the report.

Nixon was bailed to appear in Melbourne Magistrates Court on Friday.
A spokeswoman for Nixon confirmed there ''was an incident'' involving Ms Gould. She said ''this is an extremely personal situation'' and that Nixon would release a statement today.
The couple announced their engagement earlier this year and featured together in an online reality series, Ricky and Tegan Get Real. But there has been speculation the relationship had recently broken down.
Nixon was also arrested in February after an altercation with Ms Gould and was later fined and issued a penalty notice for public drunkenness. Witnesses at the time were reported to have seen him naked and throwing clothes from his apartment.
While Nixon was once one of the most influential figures in the AFL - among the players he represented were Gary Ablett snr, Wayne Carey and Ben Cousins - he has endured a tumultuous past two years.
His player manager licence was suspended for two years last year due to an ''inappropriate personal relationship'' with a young woman who had released nude photographs of St Kilda footballers.
Danny Frawley, a former teammate of Nixon's at St Kilda, spoke of his fall from grace on Triple M yesterday. ''This is just a classic example of maybe your life just completely spiralling out of control,'' Frawley said.
''He needs help now.''
Nixon recently stated he had felt reinvigorated after he staged a charity function for an ill teenager, at which prominent AFL identities appeared.
Nixon has made recent attempts to regain his influence in the AFL, including advising the management of Collingwood's Travis Cloke on his contract negotiations.
However, The Age has been told that prospective clients are wary of Nixon's past controversies and high profile on social media. The platform has been a source of angst for Nixon, who recently spoke of the regular abuse directed at him and that he was taking legal action.
