I guess there has to be contract agreements in place keeping the ESPN app from being stand alone without a provider, but CBS has an app to watch live programming, I think fox does too now, so we're getting pretty close to not needing any kind of DirectTVNow, Hulu Live etc. to watch all major live sports. The ESPN+ business strategy is to survive the millineal transition to not just cord cutting, but having no streaming TV service at all. Eventually their app will be pay period. I wonder why exactly it isn't already? I'm paying like 70 a month to get ABC, NFL Network and ESPN content. It's ridiculous.
