You've really got to decide if you want variable speed, because it's a pretty rare feature.

If you don't need it, here's what you should do:

Go here and purchase a Milwaukee M18 Fuel hammer drill and impact driver kit with two 5.0 Ah batteries. It will cost $299 plus tax and you will get a free hat. Until yesterday they were giving out free sweatshirts, but they were only size XL, so irrelevant to your needs. You will also get a free battery, but as soon as you complete your purchase you should email customerservice@internationaltool.com and tell them that you do not want that battery and would rather have a 2720-20 Milwaukee M18 Fuel Sawzall instead. This is by far the best deal going to enter into a professional quality cordless tool collection.

Then get on the google and purchase a Milwaukee M18 Fuel 4-1/2" angle grinder, available as model 2780-20 with a paddle switch or model 2781-20 with a locking slide switch. The difference is that if you start spasming and drop your grinder on your dick, the paddle switch model will be rotating at a slightly reduced speed when it hits you. I have the slide switch model and it's fantastic. I like to be able to turn it on and forget it for extended use with a flap disc and I trust myself not to drop my grinder on my dick. Home Depot has a pretty good deal on the paddle switch for $139 plus tax, and I think the best deal right now on the slide switch is at Acme Tools for $179 -11% with the promo code THANKSVETS (which ends today) and no tax.

So you'd be looking at a total of something less than $500 for four very nice brushless tools, two batteries, and a hat. I own two each of the drill, impact driver, and sawzall, and the one grinder, and recommend them highly.

If you get heavily involved in the Milwaukee M18 system, they also make a couple of larger angle grinders. I own a model 2785 M18 Fuel 9" angle grinder, and it's got a terrifying amount of ass to it. For some reason there's been a lot of them on ebay. I got mine for $135 a few months ago but lately they've been more like $160, which is still a good deal if you're interested in doing some serious crimes.

Or maybe you prefer the refined European elegance and slightly reduced performance of a Bosch tool.

If so, you should purchase this five tool combo kit from Lowes for $299. Then you should fill out this form and submit it here and they will mail you an additional free battery.

Then you should get on the google and find a Bosch 18-volt grinder. I'm pretty sure that the main variations are the GWS18V-45 4-1/2" grinder with slide switch, or the GWS18v-50 5" grinder with slide switch that is probably slightly better but the same price. They are both around $120 and if you got one today from Acme Tools you could pay no tax and use the THANKSVETS promo code for 11% off. They also offer a model GWS18v-45CN 4-1/2" brushless grinder with slide switch and model GWS18v-45PCN 4-1/2" brushless grinder with paddle switch, and both of those are "connected-ready" which I don't know wtf that means, but I think they both have some kind of variable speed but you should really check to make sure. Those two are more like $170-180.

So you could get into Bosch and have a brushed drill, impact driver/impact wrench, mini recip, rotary hammer, work light, a grinder, and three batteries for $400-500. One of my brothers is on Bosch, and it's decent stuff. My other brother is into Black and Decker, but he's a fucking schoolteacher.

Here's what we're comparing this to, btw. The actual best cordless angle grinder is probably the Metabo WPB18 LTX 115 BL 4-1/2" brushless grinder or WPB18 LTX BL 150 6" brushless grinder, with paddle switch and no variable speed. The kit with tool and two batteries will cost you around $400 or $500. I'm not even real sure how much better they are than the Milwaukee, if at all, so I'd much rather get a grinder and a pile of other tools for the same money. I rarely ever used my last corded Metabo because it was so precious, and ended up selling it on ebay for a slight profit.

MFG Part (OEM) #MILWSNAPBACK

appears to be an adjustable hat, sans mesh

Pretty sure internationaltool.com is running low on the milwaukee kit, as they recently went from saying "ships in 12 hours" to "In Stock Ships in 2-5 days." Or maybe they just quit lying, because they've never successfully shipped me anything in 12 hours.

i was concerned about mesh, no one respectable has a hat with mesh on it anyplace at all.

unless its like one of those pith helmets with the mesh you use to slip twigs and leaves and shit into so you can sneak up on tigers and rhinos and such.
