</p> Jasmine Worth crafts scenes from fairy tales gone awry—swirling seamlessly between the sweet and surreal, inevitably dipping into the valley of the morbid.
Jasmine studied formally at Studio 2nd Street in southern CA, and earned her BFA from the Laguna College of Art and Design. While she possesses the credentials, the product of her toils clearly pours from the cobwebbed corners of her mind, not the classroom. Her paintings—a cabaret of vibrant hues—are a blend of soft textures and colorful characters, juxtaposed against gloomy themes. Created in her home of San Diego, Jasmine combines dark influences and subtle-yet-serious undertones with raw artistic talent and a rarely seen creativity. Her work exudes a strong bearing of individuality, manifested through characters that speak almost vocally and give a new element of depth to an otherwise two dimensional medium. Each scene tells a story and every story is as diverse in emotion as it is in appearance.
About 4 years ago, my beloved BJ passed away. I had gotten her when she was 1 year old from an abused home. After winning her trust, she was my constant companion for 15 years. I had been longing to have a cat in my life again, and that is where Mabel came in.
A couple of weeks ago, my husband Larry noticed a cat hiding under a car in our side yard. When he told me, I went out there with some cat food. She came running to me. The poor girl was skin and bones, and starving. I could tell she was pregnant, and still a baby herself. I told Larry we could not leave her outside, he agreed.
We got some medicine for the fleas and brought her in on July 1, 2013. She settled in a closet we have in the bathroom. I got up the next morning at 6am and heard little peeps coming from the closet. Mabel had 5 kittens during the night! Sadly one did not make it. She is a great mama and taking very good care of her babies, which are all doing great and growing everyday.
Mabel is such a sweet cat, and hasn’t stopped purring since we brought her in. She has definitely won our hearts and a forever home with us! We are planning on getting her spayed in about 4 weeks when she is able to be away from her babies for the day. I am sure I will find good homes for the babies, my daughter, Desire’ already has dibs on the little calico!
