Residents in Buri Ram’s Satuek district are paying respect and making offerings to a kitten corpse, believing that it could bring them luck for the next lotto drawing.
Fifty-two-year-old Krod Yodjongrum said that while she was enjoying Thai sausages with her children last Saturday, she discovered that the last piece of sausage contained some unexpected remains.Krod said that she was initially disgusted and furious but later thought that the remains could be a good sign. The corpse, which Krod kept for worshipping, has attracted a large number of visitors, who have come in search for tips for their lotto purchases.
Satuek police said that the sausage’s maker might have ground the kitten with pork in order to save cost, but the grinder did not function well. According to Thairath, police will summon the vendor for questioning.
Krod Yodjongrum, owner of the Thai sausage that unexpectedly contained a kitten corpse, rejected officers’ requests to transfer the corpse to their possession for an autopsy. In explanation of her actions, Krod stated that she believed that the sausage was the abode of nine goddesses.
As Coconuts Bangkok reported yesterday, Krod, a 52-year-old Buri Ram resident, discovered a kitten corpse in a length of Thai sausage. Rather than dispose of the sausage, she has elected to put it on display and make offerings to it. Her neighbors have taken to asking it for tips on their lotto purchases. Krod said that a spirit medium had told her that if the sausage had been moved out of the village, calamities might have occurred.
Krod, at the moment, has decided to allows police officers to only cut a small amount of tissue from the corpse for inspection. She will hold a merit-making Buddhist ritual dedicated to the deceased feline on Mar. 21.
According to MThai, Satuek authorities said that the sausage’s maker had conducted business for about two years and this was the first irregularity.
The launch event of Snake Brand’s shower gel was abruptly cancelled yesterday after it almost caused a stampede on the flyover near the entrance of BTS Victory Monument stop.
Big Step Event, the organizer of Snake Brand Fresh Festival 2013, made a statement on their Facebook page apologizing to Snake Brand, “brand ambassador” actor Pakorn “Boy” Chatborirak, and Victory Monument passersby. The company built a temporary shower room at the spot and had Pakorn enjoying the refreshing experience as a gimmick for the personal hygiene product.
The response from Pakorn’s fans was so overwhelming that the crowd blocked the walkway and prevented commuters from taking transit at Victory Monument, one of Bangkok’s biggest bus terminals. Pakorn was singing Singto Numchok’s hit single “Yoo Dtor Loey Dai Mai” (Can You Stay?) when some travelers, who apparently disagreed with the lyrics, stepped up on the stage and scolded him for causing such trouble.
The clip below demonstrates how a marketing campaign can turn into a PR nightmare.
