Poker died off because people who didn't win tire of it a lot quicker than people who do win. That is the chief reason and live poker is still waaaay stronger than it ever was pre-boom.

Gambling in -EV games is "stupid" but people do it anyway. In a den of gamblers, that play (jasep investment) is no more stupid than shit most of them do as a matter of daily habit. Azzclown thinks hes a brainchild figuring it out, but it really isn't so simple.

I agree it is stupid, but gambling subculture is based on irrational decisions.

i dont know shit about any of the players in this deal. but my guess is the guy who said he was winning but reporting less than he won and was using the unreported winnings to pay bills and was probably right. it isnt that hard to grind low stakes live and make a little change. you win 500 over the course of a couple few sessions playing tight, use 350 on your car payment and then tell everyone you won 150. also i dunno for sure but i think he was supposed to be playing at high enough stakes that there would have had to been more movement one way or the other than what was mentioned in the thread (15/30 or something like that)
