The current government is actually anti-monarchy (Yingluck Thaksin) - the greatest genius politician with no political experience in history. I borderline adore her. She's like everything McCain would have dreamed Palin to be. She's so adorable. During the election, Abhisit kept trying to engage her in political debates - but she wouldn't be drawn into discussions on politics - she just smiled and the newspapers carry her smiles throughout the country cause Abhisit is honest so he can't bribe anyone.
Yingluck does politics so Perfectly I might be half in love with her. Like every single time there's an issue she says literally the same thing, "She's urgently commissioned a team of experts drawing across the political spectrum to assess the issue as a matter of urgency and devise a range of solutions" - each issue has the highest possibly priority for her, and everyone gets appeased and 3 days later lol...I don't' think she's ever literally even commissioned anybody but people are so moronic. It's just amazing.
Thaksin is one of the finest genius / criminal minds in history and he has SO MUCH MONEY it's literally unfathomable how he just kept drawing on billions and billions when he was in exile chased by InterPol. Now he's refilling his coffers again, and he'll be richer than God.
i.e. So this US/Thai guy was arrested for being pro-government for in flagrant breach of Constitutional law - the "lese majeste" law which isn't remotely as draconian as it sounds like the media breach it every single day.
This is just a response I wrote to a friend when the guy was arrested and every Western media publication was being the filthy whores they are.

The issue is a great deal more complex than it seems. The Thai king doesn't get involved in politics. This is more or less fact; provable by the conveniently-ignored reality on the ground where he has almost universal respect / adoration. I.e. if he wanted to get involved, it would be a matter of stating his wishes and you bet your ass his wishes would materialise. But he does - not - get involved in politics. It's amazing. He did not write the law, he does not approve of it, he literally begged them to repeal it but he cannot veto it because he does not get involved in politics. I mean he could get it removed but it would be crossing a line he doesn't cross. So he basically just pardons most of them every year.
The global media are not who the readers of their 'news' believe them to be. Everything they 'report' and everything they choose not to report and the 'curious' way they go about promoting their own agenda (or the agenda of those that dictate to them); has very little in common with news and a great deal in common with spam.
Western / commercial powers have had their eye on the Thailand's wealth for awhile; and an aging monarch at the apex of an imperfect institution will always present an easy target for those shameless ever-circling buzzards / creeps.
The Royal Family here is not perfect, and neither is the King - he's said as much himself, on more than one occasion (that he should not be above criticism). And if you think you can't discuss the issue on account of fierce lese majeste laws; then...lol. It's amazing how some journalists have defied the 'regime' for decades - printing what amounts to borderline slander every other article. I think the King makes mistakes, in giving these creeps too much slack. Because compared to the global media, the Thai media are...even more horrifying.
But the Thai King knows a bit more than I do, about his country. So I merely express opinion, is all. I just hope Thailand survives the fiddling of foreign creeps in the impending inevitable secession; because those creeps couldn't give a toss about Thailand or its 100 million citizens. They just want to play the oldest game in the 'Political' Book.
Knock it down.
Be there to pick up the pieces, amidst the bodies on the ground.
Oh would you look at that; they just happen to know a guy who knows the guy, with the only store in town.
