It was a different climate back then. The douchey hipsters we know now didn't exist, and in Texas at least, the closest thing to them were definitely Dane Cook fans. They spread his awful comedy. The frat bro types liked him too but that was only after he became completely mainstream. Like the whole thing took off right at the time he was fading away.
