I don't think they pay them anything. The chinese have been making their lifers do leather and other work with chemicals that slowly kill them for a long time. Asians have no souls.
New idea for lifers. Convert them all to Islam, then put them into detainee camps for suspicion of terrorism. Pass new legislation that deems them traitors and guilty of treason and execute them nice and legal like. BOOM.
