so I threw an ad up on broke ass Craigslist to see if I could bag a few extra bucks on the side

I'm kinda leaning towards the general thought process that maybe its not a great idea getting into the high roller life of falsifying bank statements

Its possible to get 20 years in prison for falsifying bank records depending what he is using them for. 10 just for discussing it. That crime is called "conspiracy to commit bank fraud". The fact that he may be applying for a loan falsely or trying to screw the IRS would determine your sentence.

You would face far less years in jail just blackmailing the guy. Telling him you will call the bank and the FBI if he doesn't give you 2k. But thats illegal as well.
