Who wants a new IPAD? This guy right here. Sorta.
Pros:
1) dece way to skype
2) lay in bed, catch up on email and such without having to lug around laptop, which is important for people like gary with his lunch lady arms
3) cellular model has pragmatic uses as a gps
4) on flights: watch movies, play chess, read shit
Cons:
1) Every day I will sit down at my desk and look at it gathering dust next to my laptop and think to myself "todays the day I put this $800 toy to use" but it wont happen and eventually a new, better model will drop for half the price making me ashamed I ever spent the money in the first place.

honestly, if you're not doing lots of traveling, via train, plane or subway, I'm not sure how an ipad makes a bunch of sense.

#2 is pulling a lot of weight with me right now, and I actually have some flights coming up as well... if it was $600 instead of $800 this decision would be easier.

ah, well, if it wasn't the skype factor, I'd be curious why you wouldn't get a kindle fire or something, which you can read/websurf/watch movies on. Dunno about their skype possibilities, but for 250 it seems like a steal.

a kindle is an e-book reader, which is great, but ipads have pdf/rich media website support, not to mention the ability to run apps, as well as the previously mentioned webcam/skype deal.
i may purchase a kindle at some point but i dont see it really being a decision that would impact my ipad purchase urges.

I know that kindle is an ebook reader, but I thought what made a kindle fire a... um.. fire, was it's multimedia capacity. I know that you get amazon's movie rental package subscription with it, their version of netflix. But yeah, obv ipad is going to be way better for aps and games and whatnot.

yeah didnt mean to sound condescending there, i was more trying to underscore what the ipad does, not what the kindle doesnt do, thats all.
