Dining Room Danger: Exploding Tables
1:35 PM, Aug 22, 2012
SEATTLE, Washington (KING) - A close call in the kitchen left a Seattle, Washington man's heart pounding.
One moment, Adam Welch was getting ready for work, and the next he was surrounded by broken glass.
"I just heard this explosive sound, and I saw flashes out of the corner of my eye," said Welch.
The shattered pieces could be seen throughout his small apartment.
"Glass crowded up against the refrigerator, crowded up against the wall," he said. "It spontaneously exploded."
We took Adam's photos and story to glass expert, Justin Ivy.
Ivy works at Seattle Stained Glass, and he has heard of glass exploding before.
"It's not terribly common, but it can happen," said Ivy.
Ivy said if the glass has been damaged in the past, like a "deep scratch, a chip on the edge" that could cause problems.
"A hot pan, a bright sunny day, things like that, can cause thermal stress, and cause it to break. It can release that tension in the glass and cause it to just explode," Ivy said.
Ivy emphasized that while he's heard of this happening, it is rare.
People have posted pictures and stories, similar to Adam's story online.
You can find years worth of complaints about glass tables exploding.
For Adam, he said it is still unclear what caused his table to explode.
"It is a total mystery. There is nothing I can think of that would have been the foundation of this explosion," said Welch.
Adam owned the table for four years.
He contacted the furniture manufacturer, and is still awaiting a reply.
Can light bulbs simply going dark (none exploded when the mirror came down) change thermal stress in half a second?
I was too busy trying to get her not to leave to think of filming her but this cute girl I hooked up with as I was leaving a club at 3am tilted (this moronic girl I'd met like a year ago had this cute friend so I was giving her the time of day when I wouldn't have otherwise, but when I hooked up with her cute friend, Toddlers...it's just so insane, I have no idea if it was about me or if I was a pretext but I just walked the fuck away and out from that nausea) and a cute girl said "whatsup" and I was relieved cause the only reason I was out was my apartment was creeping me the fuck out and I'm getting a reputation living in the restaurant / lobby / bar. With someone there, my demented fears aren't triggered.
I was about to add her on Facebook when I noticed her head cocked to one side and I thought she'd gone to sleep but she was looking through the bedroom door into the bathroom at something; then her head shot bold upright and she looked at me in terror and I'm like "WTF" and she drops to her knees and starts chanting some Buddhist monkey-chant or something - really repetitive and I'm just thinking "what the fuck is..."
She goes for like 2 min and then she's on her feet babbling and trying to leave. She's literally speaking incoherent English words and freaking me the fuck out but I don't want her to go so I'm trying to stall her asking her what's going on, trying to pay her ridiculous amounts to stay, she's not interested, she doesn't want to discuss it, she just kept babbling words I didn't understand and saying "If you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about" and I'm suddenly not sure so I'm blocking her exit going "have I done something wrong?" and she's trying to get around me and I ask her if I'm going to die and she doesn't want to meet my eyes but she just keeps repeating "if you've done nothing wrong you have nothing to worry about" - she must have said it five times before I realised in horror, I was detaining her and boy that was a relieved girl to leave my hotel room and to leave me. She didn't look back once. She was out of here.
I was too terrified to back inside so I went and slept in the lobby bar accidentally, this was three days ago. Nothing. All the inexplicable creepy has stopped. I feel....alone.
I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. She might have chased away something trying to tell me something I needed to know, which had never harmed me once. Ever. But Christ when she would keep chanting "if you've done nothing wrong, you have nothing to worry about" in a way that made me suddenly wonder what I'd done. She seemed to think I'd done something horrifying.
I don't have her contact details and didn't end up getting her Facebook so that's that, I guess. But that was fucking weird. Straight out wtf. Or maybe all that was because she changed her mind about giving me her Facebook?
hah. That was a crazy chant with hand motions and bobbing head and whoa. She was fucking terrified.
I was later watching a LMFAO music video when I had to stop the YouTube video for a second.
i thought the ghost was in a hotel but now you say its your apartment ?
I'm still in a hotel. Just paying rent by the month so it feels like an apartment. 80,000b/month and I been living in the lobby, office centre, bar and restaurant. The staff literally think I'm nuts, but then when you're thought to be batshit crazy but you tip well, the proper term becomes...eccentric.

its hard to keep up but either way i wonder why you dont move somewhere else if the place is messing with your head.
I have pursued that avenue.

No we were supposed to go last Tues but unless people make things happen, I never get anything done or go anywhere.

I draw the line at gratuitous imaging of naked skin. It can corrupt and traumatise the impressionable minds of the children of Protection Rackets, you know.
so true how crazy rich people are eccentric yet crazy poor people are insane. funny that.
it sure seem insane to be spending the guts of $3k a month for a place you arent even living in but hey i guess you got to keep you book collection somewhere nice.
whats with all the moving around then are the "ghosts" following you ?
i mean not to say you arent being chased round bangkok by ghosts but surely thats the least logical explanation to what is going on. blaming mirrors falling off walls and power cuts/fuses blowing on ghosts is about as logical as people saying "god moves in mysterious ways" when bad things happen to them.
