Lapo Elkann went on a two-day drug binge while holed up at the apartment of a transgender escort over the weekend claim law enforcement sources
The 39-year-old, who is worth $800million, was hosted by escort Curtis McKinstry at her residence in a New York City housing project
Law enforcement sources claim that Elkann snorted cocaine, smoked marijuana and drank with the 29-year-old escort
He is then accused of calling a family rep on Saturday and falsely claiming he had been kidnapped in a bid to get $10,000 to pay McKinstry
The family rep then called police and Elkann filled out a police report which led to McKinstry being charged with extortion
That charge was dropped after an investigation determined that Elkann had made up the kidnapping, and he was charged with filing a false report
On Wednesday, just before he departed for New York City, Elkann posted a video saying he wad off to meet 'many interesting characters'
