Appeal after cash in transit robbery in Speke
We are appealing for any information after cash in transit guards were robbed of a cash box in Speke on Sunday (15 December 2019).
Just before 7.15am, the two guards were delivering cash to a Shell service station on Speke Boulevard when three men approached them holding an angle grinder, making verbal threats.
The offenders took the cash box and made off in a car.
No security guards were assaulted or injured during the incident.
The cash box was later found and recovered in Speke Road, Hunts Cross and will be forensically examined. Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended a car fire in Fairways Close, Woolton a short time later, and an angle grinder was found inside the vehicle ? a blue Audi S5.
Detective Inspector Phil Atkinson said: "Guards collecting and delivering cash should be able to go about their jobs without fear of being subjected to an ordeal like this.
"We have been carrying out a number of enquiries In Speke, Hunts Cross and Woolton to try to establish exactly what happened and trace the three men responsible.
"This includes examination of CCTV footage and forensic enquiries, and we would be keen to hear from anyone who might have dashcam footage or CCTV in that area. We also appeal for anyone who witnessed the incident itself or who saw the offenders acting suspiciously to get in touch.?
